Objective: to surpass some historic records
Last year’s edition of the TotalEnergies ½ Marathon of Málaga delivered unforgettable figures. With the debut of the new route, all race records were broken thanks to the impressive performances of two Kenyan athletes:
This year, the goal is clear: to break these records again.
A realistic aspiration
It won’t be easy, but the international elite arrives in Málaga with the ambition of surpassing the stratospheric marks achieved in 2025.
In the men’s category, the top favorite for victory is the Kenyan Vincent Kipkorir, one of the strongest names on the international lineup and a clear contender to fight for the race record.
Alongside him, Kenya once again presents a powerful team. Other names to watch will be Daniel Tumaka Kosen, Amos Kipkurui Langat and Mathew Kipkoech Kipruto, all of them athletes capable of shaking up the race if the pace is right.
Ethiopia will also feature runners capable of keeping the pressure on from the first kilometers. Diriba Girma Mamo and Kuma Dejene Debel arrive with times very close to the hour mark, guaranteeing a fast race from the start.
The traditional rivalry between Kenya and Ethiopia will once again be one of the great sporting attractions of the event.
In the women’s category, the big favorite is the Kenyan Winnie Jepkosgei Kimutai, who lands in Málaga with her sights set on surpassing the impressive 1:05:46 set by Loice Chemnung last year.
Another standout athlete will be fellow Kenyan Esther Chebet, who will try to fight for the top positions in what is expected to be a very fast race.
On the European front, the presence of Klara Lukan, a Slovenian athlete with a personal best of 1:08:04, achieved in 2025 in Valencia, stands out, and she aims to get closer to the best.
A route that invites you to fly
Last year it was proven: the new route was a resounding success.
The Paseo del Parque will once again become the epicenter of the TotalEnergies ½ Marathon of Málaga, in the very heart of the city. This emblematic location, surrounded by history and with a unique atmosphere, will allow runners to enjoy the charm of Málaga’s city center while seeking their best sensations.
The race maintains a completely flat, sea-level profile, ideal conditions for both elite and amateur runners to improve their personal records.
With this, Málaga aims to position itself among the TOP 5 fastest half marathons in Europe.
